Drinking Juice with Marco Borges, Celebrity Trainer and Founder of 22 Days Nutrition

If Jay-Z, the world’s most famous and successful rapper, hires you as his personal trainer, you obviously know your stuff.

An exercise physiologist who uses a scientific approach to achieve optimum health through exercise and nutrition, Marco Borges has become one of the most sought after wellness experts in the world. He is also the author of the book Power Moves: The 4 Motions to Transform Your Body for Life.

Yet, this Miami-based health entrepreneur has ambitions that extend well beyond the fitness world.

Marco Borges founded 22 Days Nutrition, a plant-based line of organic energy bars and protein powders that has gained a very big following.

Given Marco’s proven track record in transforming the health of other people, I was very curious to learn about his own personal juicing habits.

Marco, why do you juice?

I juice on a daily basis because there’s no better or more delicious way to take in such nutritional density. Oh yeah…and it makes me feel amazing!!

Tell me about your juicing lifestyle?

I was never a fan of soda, but at an early age, I stopped drinking it completely (probably at around 14) and knew that real juice from the earth was what our bodies needed to thrive.

I’ve been juicing for over 20 years and love to mix it up. Sometimes I simply juice and fast from food, but I mostly use juicing to complement my lifestyle. I love lemon, ginger and turmeric, and use it in almost everything!!

What is one of your favorite pressed organic juices?

I have too much respect for a few friends doing it brilliantly in the pressed juice bar world to name just one, but I will tell you this…NYC has the BEST pressed organic juice game!! The flavor profiles and concepts are second to none!!

What is your favorite time of day to juice?

My favorite time to juice is definitely inn the morning. It feels like a special delivery of energy to all of the cells in my body.

How has your juicing evolved over the years?

At first, I would juice and just drink it because it was good for me. Now that I have three boys running around our home, I want to make sure they enjoy and live the juice experience as well. So, I take more time and put more effort into making delicious recipes they’ll love.

What kind of juicer do you have at home and how often do you make it?

I use a Breville now daily but am moving to a Norwalk.

What are the biggest mistakes people make when juicing?

Lack of consistency is the biggest mistake I think people can make when juicing. The best results are achieved, as with most things, when done consistently.

How has the juicing scene in Miami changed over the last few years and where do you see it going?

Miami is quickly catching up and there are a few new concepts coming up that will be exciting to follow over the next few years… Eventually, I think it will be just as easy to find a great juice bar as it is to find coffee 😉

What are your best tips for staying healthy when traveling?
