Drinking Juice with Cassandra Bodzak, Global Wellness Teacher and LightMaker

It’s a tall order to put a succinct title on the self-described “happy, healthy living guru” Cassandra Bodzak.

The global meditation and wellness teacher is also quite the multi-hyphenate—author, blogger, speaker, TV personality (you may recognize her from ABC’s “The Taste”), and holistic health coach.

But, in her eyes, she simply is a #LightMaker. She “helps people create a life that lights them up from the inside out.”

As a proponent of “peace, love, and green juice,” she’s truly a woman after our own hearts. Here’s an inside look at Cassandra Bodzak.

EAT: Caravan of Dreams in the East Village (my neighborhood) and Candle 79 on the Upper East Side, both in NYC. I am completely addicted to chia seed pudding and avocado toast, but you’ll usually find some delicious vegan, gluten-free baked goods of my own creation lurking around my kitchen, too. Oh, and when I’m in Los Angeles, I go to Café Gratitude as much as humanly possible.

DRINK: Organic, cold-pressed green juice (usually with an apple and lemon in the mix), and when I’m feeling decadent, the Heaven on Earth smoothie from Juice Press or the refreshing Green Colada from Gingersnap’s Organic.

I also make lots of juices at home from the recipes in my juicing e-book Juicespiration. I was an early adopter on the juice-love front.

SWEAT: Jivamukti yoga, kundalini, SoulCycle, and Daybreaker (early AM dance party), plus getting my groove on to Spotify in my apartment while I cook and clean.

READ: A Return to Love by Marianne Williamson, The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer, No More Bull by Howard Lyman, Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr, The War of Art by Steve Pressfield, Warrior of the Light by Paul Coelho — Can you tell yet that I single-handedly fund Barnes & Noble? Hehe.

LISTEN: India.Arie, The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Ingrid Michaelson, Lorde, Lana Del Ray, Ed Sheeran, Justin Timberlake (yes, yes, I do), and Taylor Swift (just being honest here now).

WATCH: Mostly food documentaries, including Forks Over Knives, Fed Up, Vegucated, Hungry for Change, and Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.

PLACES: New York City, baby! Paris, Los Angeles, and St. Maarten (the French side). Next stop: Bali!

RITUALS: Meditation, tea, journaling, and coconut oiling myself up!

DREAMS: To help as many people as possible create a lifestyle that lights them up from the inside out; to see a massive wave of awakening and consciousness all over the world, but especially here at home in the United States; to have my kids live in a better country, where there is an epidemic of good health, well-being, and happiness.

WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I have a 5-year-old goldfish named Terminator and he is vegan (he only eats the inside of peas and this has saved his life). I played ice hockey for many years growing up and even became a referee. I have a birthmark the shape of a turtle shell on my left arm that most people think is a tattoo.
