For someone who has been meditating since 1991 and acutely understands its importance, I am always happy to promote the ancient practice of meditation, especially if a fellow Goldberg is at the forefront of taking it to the masses.
When it comes to meditation, nobody would have labeled Lynne Goldberg (no relation) a “natural’. A former corporate bigwig who spent her days stressed out on conference calls and her nights playing mom while cramming for presentations, Lynne only found meditation after being dragged by a friend — kicking and screaming, mind you — to a yoga retreat.
In the time since, Lynne has completely transformed herself, thanks to the calm and clarity that meditation provides. Lynne has also made this practice her life, first by becoming a certified meditation coach teacher and, now, with the launch of OMG. I Can Meditate!, a mobile and web guided meditation app that can teach mindfulness to anybody in just 10 minutes a day.
Lynne’s simple and clear teaching style has brought the joy of meditation to stressed-out business executives, soccer moms, eighty year-olds, kindergarten kids, and everyone in between. Additionally, she is the author of the book Get Balanced. Get Blissed.
Here’s an inside look at Lynne Goldberg.
EAT: When I’m indulging, it’s pasta cruda at Crudessence Montreal (my hometown!). If I’m in the Big Apple, it’s grilled kale salad at Candle Cafe all the way, and when I make it to the West Coast, I always get the raw crepes at Cafe Gratitude.
DRINK: Water, water, water. Plus, Thai coconut water at Terri in New York, and Embrace at Liquid Nutrition throughout Canada (spinach, apple, beets, celery, lettuce, lemon… yum!).
SWEAT: Dharma Yoga, any outside activity (hiking, biking, cross-country skiing).
PLACES: The more ancient and exotic the better. Bhutan, India, Tanzania. I also like to treat myself to Mother Nature eco-resorts like Amansala in Tulum, Mexico.
RITUALS: Meditation, yoga.
DREAM: An entire world that meditates, including our politicians.
WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I’m scared of heights.
If you don’t meditate but are interested in trying it, I strongly suggest that you start ASAP, and Lynne Goldberg’s app is a perfect and easy way to learn how.
