When you learn about how prolific Rebekah “Bex” Borucki has been in her health and wellness career, especially given her very busy home life, it is truly mind-blowing.
This mother of 5, who lives with her husband, a flock of backyard hens, and three Nigerian dwarf goats on an 8-acre homestead in New Jersey, has achieved incredible success on YouTube, where she has amassed more than 150,000 subscribers and 20 million views.
As the founder of BexLife.com and the Blissed In wellness movement, Bex has been a crusader for holistic wellness, natural parenting, and green living on the Internet for more than a decade, while hosting a TV show on Veria Living called Got Zen? and teaching people everywhere about the importance of yoga, meditation and fitness.
Here’s an inside look at Rebekah “Bex” Borucki.
EAT: Eggs from my backyard chickens for breakfast, local raw honey and produce from my local farm stands in New Egypt, NJ, and – on the rare occasion that my husband and I can get away from the kids – Quintessence (East Village, NYC) for ridiculously delicious raw cuisine.
DRINK: Juice Press when I’m in Manhattan, my favorite spinach/pineapple/banana with Vega French vanilla all-in-one smoothie in my Vitamix when I’m home, and my cold water and hot tea travel everywhere with me in my Camelbak Forge stainless steel travel mug.
SWEAT: At home – Xen Strength Yoga by Danielle Diamond; Favorite class – Spin at Flywheel; Easy and free – running the NJ Pinelands Reserve in my backyard.
READ: Be Here Now by Ram Dass, Soul On Ice by Eldridge Cleaver, and my daily Hay House calendar. I’m a blogger, so I read blogs. My favorite of the moment is breakfasttobed.com because Cat Bowen is too damn smart.
LISTEN: Old Crow Medicine Show, early 90s hip hop, Tupac, Dolly Parton, Pearl Jam, Prince.
WATCH: Walking Dead, anything good or bad with Nicolas Cage, House of Cards, Justified, Steel Magnolias and the like, and almost all period films about American wars.
PLACES: Nashville is my all-time favorite American city and Rancho la Puerta Resort & Spa on Baja California, Mexico is divine. But nothing beats a secluded hot beach in Tulum with a margarita and fresh guacamole.
RITUALS: My morning ritual: meditation in my sun room, gratitude journaling, then tea, emails, and nursing my new baby in the den.
DREAMS: To be a best-selling author (my book, You Have 4 Minutes to Change Your Life, is coming soon from Hay House), to spend a summer doing stand-up comedy, to add alpacas to our little farm family of misfit animals, to empower women to have the births that they desire and deserve though my doula practice, and to live to see my great-grandchildren get married.
WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I never learned how to swim and I have a sea-life phobia (but I snorkel anyway), I juggle when I’m anxious or need to concentrate, I sometimes watch telenovelas even though I don’t speak a word of Spanish.
