On multiple occasions over the past month or two, I have been in conversations with people, either at dinner parties or in a work setting, and out of the blue they told me “I am reading the most amazing health book right now.”
So, naturally, I asked which one it was.
And the responses were all the same — Eating Clean by Amie Valpone.

I recently caught up with my good friend and she talked about her lifestyle habits with me.
EAT: For restaurants, I love The Butcher’s Daughter in NYC, and my favorite foods are zucchini, daikon radish, almonds, cashews and avocados.
DRINK: Warm water with fresh organic lemon and freshly grated ginger.
SWEAT: I love walking outside and doing light yoga in my home. I stopped working out 3 years ago because of my chronic fatigue and Lyme disease, and I haven’t had a desire to do cardio since then. My body craves gentle movement so I’ve learned how to listen to my body.
READ: I’m reading about 10 books right now, including Letting Go, Power vs. Force, The Power of Now, A Course in Miracles. I no longer read medical books…now it’s all mind/body books to help me grow and peel away the layers.
LISTEN: Beyonce and Taylor Swift when I want to dance in my apartment, and soft rock is always on my headphones when I’m walking in NYC.
WATCH: I don’t have cable because I never watch TV. I’d rather listen to music or meditate or read!
PLACES: Italy, Central Park, and my favorite event is Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, CA.
RITUALS: I meditate every morning and most nights, I read a few of my mind/body books daily, I do epsom salt baths and infrared saunas as often as I can, and I do skin brushing each day.
DREAMS: To help as many people as I can who are suffering or who have lost hope that their life will never be normal again. I also hope is to inspire people to learn how to get their bodies working for them, instead of against them.
WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT ME: I’ve become an introvert. I was the life of the party growing up and always going out, but now I enjoy being alone the most. While I have the most incredible friends, I really need to take care of my body and protect my own energy on a daily basis because I often drain myself out. So, I’ve learned how to stop ‘doing’ and learned how to start just ‘being’ and enjoying my simple life.
